Plantar Fasciitis and Creepy Toe Shoes

I have been dealing with a nasty case of Plantar Fasciitis for the last 3-4 weeks. If you’ve never experienced PF I would suggest keeping it that way. Holy hell the pain is horrible. I have a few theories as to how this little moster reared its ugly head in the heel of my right foot.
1. I was running in Vibram toe shoes for about three years, no problems, happy feet.
2. I started track workouts with a coach and thought I would try non-toe shoes but keep it minimal.
3. About 3-5 months after switching back to regular minimal running shoes the PF presented.
4. I stand 6-9 hours a day.
So, I decided to freeze a water bottle and ice-roll my foot twice a day. The icing helped at the time but the pain kept coming back just as strong and was getting worse. The next step was to get back into the Vibram toe shoes to see if that might help and IT DID, like a charm! I’ve been back in the Vibram’s for almost a week, except for one day I wore regular shoes and the pain came back like a sneaky ninja.
Conclusion: FOR ME (I speak only for me) the Vibram toe shoes are the answer to keeping the Plantar Fasciitis away from my little feet. AND I hope to be running again by next week. Take into account that most PF cases take 6 months to a year to heal and you will understand how amazing this turnaround really is. 4-6 weeks without running I can deal with! And for the record, I’m not trying to make any fashion claims with the creepy toe shoes, I know they are not sexy, but neither am I when I’m angry and bitter because I can’t run. Believe me, nobody wants to see that.
